The Solution
The Config Team implemented CodingControl™ to connect its production environment with SAP. Integrating directly with SAP, CodingControl displays order details from SAP as a webpage front end for operatives to clearly view the details of the order currently running on the production line.
Once a pallet reaches the auto labeller, CodingControl generates an SSCC number and sends this, along with the relevant order data information, to the auto labeller, which prints and applies the label to the finished pallet. The built-in scanner scans the barcode on the pallet label, which is sent back to CodingControl. CodingControl then confirms all the data and posts the goods receipt directly in SAP.
Due to being locally installed, CodingControl can continue to send and receive information if the wider network, or SAP system, is down, which has had a major impact on the Eviosys production operation. On other lines, where the company does not yet have the automated labelling solution, if there is a system outage, SAP cannot send any data to print the labels and so production is stopped until the connection is back up and running. With CodingControl, production can continue and all finished pallets are labelled so goods can be identified. The goods receipts are stored in CodingControl then posted in SAP as soon as the connection is restored meaning no production time is lost.
As an extra quality control measure, The Config Team has installed its mobile solution, PreBilt™, to enable manual printing of labels if required. The pallets are checked before being moved from production and if any labels are ripped, folded or unreadable, PreBilt can be used to reprint a label. Similarly, if the auto-labeller is out of action, pallets can bypass the labeller and new labels can be generated using PreBilt and applied manually.
